Gionee launched the Gionee Elife S5.5 in China-Worlds slimmest phone

Gionee today launched the Gionee Elife S5.5 in China, they call it the world’s slimmest smartphone for a reason.
It has thickness of just 5.5mm. Less than any smartphone currently known.
Elife S5.5 sports the thinnest AMOLED Plus screen with corning gorilla glass protection(not known yet possibly CGG2).

The screen size is 5 inches (probably 1080p resolution). It supports single SIM and is powered by 1.7GHz octa core processor following many other octa core handsets.

It runs on Amigo OS 2.0 (customized) which is based on Android 4.2 with 2GB RAM and a modest 16GB storage.

Phone dimensions are 145.1 x 70.2 x 5.55mm which is the best you can find out there. I wonder if it can chop vegetables too. Hopefully gionee took care of that.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with 13MP rear camera and a front camera of 5MP. Both front and rear cameras are auto focus just what was found on the nuclea n2.

Key features are 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. OTG is supported; however it seems that the micro SD card slot is missing. There is a non-removable battery of 2300 mAh capacity.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 will be available in Purple, White, Black, Pink and Blue variants.

The Elife S5.5 4G version is coming around in June 2014. The handset should reach Indian stores in Q2 2014.
